On May 2, 2025, the Department of Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha, in collaboration with the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), hosted the event From Temples to Tech in Bhubaneswar. Framed as a strategic industry-government-academia dialogue, the event brought together national and regional stakeholders to examine how Odisha can strengthen its presence in electronics manufacturing, IT exports, and emerging areas such as AI and deep-tech.

Dr. Ashwini Kumar Rath, serving as Chairman of ESC’s Eastern Region, played a key role in shaping the format and objectives of the event. One of the core outcomes of the day was the formal launch of the ESC Odisha Industry Support Cell, a structured effort to assist local electronics and IT enterprises with export procedures, global market access, compliance support, and mentoring. Dr. Rath described this as a catalytic step rather than a symbolic one, emphasizing the importance of sustained operational support to help companies navigate both opportunity and risk in international markets.
The event also included signing six Memoranda of Understanding between ESC and institutions such as IIT Bhubaneswar, IIIT Bhubaneswar, OUTR, BPUT, VSSUT, and the World Trade Center Bhubaneswar. A curated showcase of startups from Odisha further grounded the day’s discussions. Early-stage ventures in electronics and software solutions had the opportunity to pitch to mentors and institutional representatives.
